International Museum Day (IMD) has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. IMD has been celebrated in Singapore since 2006 through events and activities at National Heritage Board (NHB) museums during the last two weeks of May. The theme varies yearly and is decided by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). For this year (2009), the IMD theme is Holiday Fun at Home, where the activities focus on families and children to foster a museum going culture from young!to support the theme set by ICOM, this year's IMD can also be called the 'Children's Season'.
To experience the IMD live, i'd be going to one of the event called 'Carnival Fun for the Family! 'held on 24 May, from 10 am–6 pm.
