IMD is considered a local event for Singapore. We have family fun events such as carnivals and toy crafting. The locations chosen to hold those events are government-owned areas which meant public areas. IMD do not aim to yield high levels of tourisms, prestige nor economic impact. It only aims to educate and to foster a museum going culture from young, especially for the Singaporean children.
IMD is a image maker as this event creates and enhances the image of a museum in everyone. It is an animator as it shows people what museums have got, makes them interested and would then be keen to visit the different museums. It is a catalyst as it stimulates business and supports other attractions during the period of the festival. It is a place marketing as it creates positive images of the country and the museums, as well as attracting residents and investors to the event. It is less of a tourist attraction as it does not exactly aim to attracts tourists. However if the event attracted a tourist's interest, it will increases their length of stay so as to experience the whole event.
